Everything your Wyken property needs
The render systems we fit on Wyken properties, and the repairs we carry out where existing render has cracked, blown or let water through.
Silicone Thin-Coat Render
Flexible, breathable, through-coloured silicone render that resists cracking and stays cleaner for longer — no repainting.
K-Rend & Monocouche
Premium scratch-render systems applied in one through-coloured coat for a durable, low-maintenance finish.
Sand & Cement Rendering
Conventional sand and cement, finished smooth or textured and then painted. Lower material cost, with repainting as the trade-off.
Pebbledash & Roughcast
New pebbledash and roughcast, or covering existing dash with a smooth modern render for a complete transformation.
Render Repairs & Crack Repair
Hollow sections cut back to a sound edge, rebuilt in matching material and feathered in — after we have worked out why it failed.
External Wall Insulation
The option when the wall is cold as well as tired. It thickens the wall, so reveals, sills and the roofline are reworked to suit.

What we check on a property in Wyken
Every quote starts with a survey. These are the things we look at on rendering work in Wyken, and why each one changes the recommendation.
Sealant and beading at openings
Window and door perimeters are where most water actually enters. We check the sealant joint, the reveal detail, and whether the render was beaded properly at the frame rather than butted up and left.
Existing paint and coatings
Masonry paint, textured coatings and old waterproofers all affect adhesion and breathability. Some have to come off entirely; others can be bonded over. Which it is depends on what is there and how well it is stuck.
Rainwater goods and drip details
A leaking gutter joint or a missing drip bead keeps one strip of wall permanently wet, which shows up as staining, growth and eventually frost damage. We look at the roofline while we are looking at the walls.
Ground levels at the base of the wall
Soil, paving or a raised border sitting against the wall will defeat even a perfect render. We measure the gap between ground level and the damp-proof course and flag where it needs lowering.
Meter boxes, flues and external fittings
Gas and electric boxes, boiler flues, outside taps, alarm bells and satellite brackets all have to come off and go back at the new wall thickness. Missing one at survey is how a job overruns.
Access and scaffold requirements
Anything above ground-floor level needs proper scaffold, and the pitch, boundary positions and access route decide what that costs and how long it stands. We work this out at survey so the quote holds.

Wyken sits next to Walsgrave (about 1 mile away), Henley Green (about 1 mile away), Stoke Heath (about 1.1 miles away) and Ball Hill (about 1.2 miles away). We work across the whole of that cluster, which is part of why we can usually get to a survey quickly — we are often already nearby.
Are you actually local to Wyken?
Yes. Wyken is around 2.3 miles east of the centre of Coventry, well within the area we work in every week. We are not a national firm subcontracting the job out.
What is the best time of year to render?
Late spring through early autumn, because the render cures steadily and the weather risk is lowest. Mid-summer brings the opposite problem — render drying too fast in direct sun, which can craze the surface — so on hot days we work the shaded elevations and sheet the scaffold. Autumn is fine if the work is planned to finish before the first frosts.
Can you render a solid-wall Victorian or Edwardian property?
Yes, but the system matters more than it does on a cavity wall. A solid wall has no cavity to drain, so it needs to dry back through its surface. A dense cement render traps that moisture and tends to push damp inwards, which is why older solid-wall properties do better with a breathable system — lime-based, or a vapour-permeable silicone build-up over a suitable basecoat.
What is K-Rend?
K Rend is a manufacturer, not a type of render — the name is used so widely that it has become shorthand for their through-coloured silicone and scratch render systems. A K-Rend finish usually means a scratched, through-coloured render around 15 to 20mm thick. We fit it where a client wants that particular texture, and we will say plainly when a thin-coat silicone system would perform better on the wall in front of us.
What is silicone render and why is it used so often now?
Silicone thin-coat render is a through-coloured topcoat applied over a reinforced basecoat. The colour runs through the material rather than sitting on top as paint, it stays vapour-permeable so the wall can still breathe, and the silicone makes the surface water-repellent so rain beads off and carries dirt with it. It also flexes slightly, which is why it resists the hairline crazing that catches out rigid cement render.
How much does rendering cost in Wyken?
As a guide, external rendering in Wyken typically costs between £40 and £70 per square metre, depending on the system used and whether scaffolding is required. A full three-bedroom house generally falls between £2,500 and £5,000, while larger detached properties are usually in the £9,000 to £12,000 range. Every job gets a free, fixed written quote before any work starts.
