Everything your Bell Green property needs
Roofing work across Bell Green and nearby Courthouse Green, Little Heath and Henley Green. Most jobs start as a leak; what it turns into depends on what we find underneath.
New Roof Installations
New roof structures from the deck up — underlay, treated battens, covering, flashings and a mechanically fixed ridge, properly ventilated.
Roof Replacements
When a roof is past repairing: off with the old covering and battens, structure inspected, then rebuilt to current standards throughout.
Roof Repairs & Leak Detection
Repairs to slipped and cracked tiles, failed flashings, open ridges and anything else letting water in — after we have found the real cause.
Slate & Tile Roofing
Pitched roof coverings in slate and tile, repaired to match where we can and replaced where the fixings have reached their limit.
Chimney Repairs & Leadwork
Repointing, flaunching, rebuilding and the lead flashings and soakers that keep water out where the stack meets the roof.
Fascias, Soffits & Guttering
Fascias, soffits, bargeboards and gutters — the parts that fail quietly and then rot the timber behind them.

What we check on a property in Bell Green
Every quote starts with a survey. These are the things we look at on roofing work in Bell Green, and why each one changes the recommendation.
Lead quality and code
Lead that is too thin for its span splits from thermal movement, and over-long pieces do the same. We check the code and the lengths used, because an undersized flashing fails again whatever else is done.
Previous repairs
Mastic, expanding foam, flashing tape and a tile bedded in cement tell their own story. They mark where the roof has been failing, and whether anyone ever dealt with the cause.
Access and scaffold design
Where scaffold can stand, what it has to clear, and whether a neighbour or a public footpath is involved all change the programme and the cost. We settle this at inspection so the quote is the price.
Moss and organic growth
We note how much there is and where. Heavy moss means water is being held against the tiles and gutters are probably taking the debris, and it also tends to mark the shaded, slowest-drying part of the roof.
Tile pattern and availability
We identify the covering and check whether matching tiles are still obtainable, new or reclaimed. That answers early on whether a repair can be made invisible or will always show.
Flashings at every abutment
Chimneys, party walls, dormer cheeks and soil pipes each need a sound flashing. We look for split lead, flashing pulled out of its joint, and the mastic repairs that usually mean the real fix was skipped.

Speak to us today0786 5778332How far is Bell Green from your base?
Bell Green is roughly 2.4 miles north-east of Coventry city centre. That is close enough that a survey can normally be arranged within a few days, and close enough that coming back afterwards is never a problem.
Do you only work in Bell Green, or the surrounding streets too?
Both. Work in Bell Green usually takes us into Courthouse Green (about 0.4 miles away), Little Heath (about 0.5 miles away), Henley Green (about 0.5 miles away) and Foleshill (about 0.8 miles away) as well, and we quote for all of them on the same terms. There is no boundary line that changes the price.
How often should a roof be inspected?
Once a year is sensible for most houses, plus a look after any serious storm. An inspection is mostly about the things that fail before the tiles do: ridge and verge mortar, flashings, valleys, the state of the gutters and any slipped or cracked tiles. Catching those is the difference between pointing work and a ceiling repair.
What is roof flashing and why does it fail?
Flashing is the weatherproofing where the roof meets something else: a chimney, a wall, a valley, a soil pipe. It is usually lead, dressed and tucked into a mortar joint. It fails when the mortar holding it goes, when the lead splits from decades of thermal movement, or when someone has sealed over it with mastic instead of replacing it. Flashings are behind a large share of the leaks we trace.
Is moss on the roof a problem?
It is not harmless. Moss holds water against the tiles, which matters in frost, and it breaks off and blocks gutters and valleys. It should be removed carefully — scraped and brushed, not blasted. A pressure washer strips the surface off concrete tiles, drives water under the laps and takes years off the roof. We have replaced tiles that were fine until they were jet-washed.
What is dry fix, and why does everyone mention it now?
Dry fix means ridge, hip and verge tiles held by mechanical fixings and a weatherproof system instead of being bedded in mortar alone. Mortar shrinks, cracks and eventually lets go, which is why loose ridge tiles are such a common call-out. Since the 2014 revision of BS 5534 mortar on its own is no longer an acceptable fixing for new work, so a re-roof should include a mechanically fixed ridge.
What makes tiles slip?
Most often nail fatigue. The nails holding the tiles corrode over decades until they let go, and the tile slides. Rotten battens do the same thing. One slipped tile is a repair; a scatter of them across the whole roof usually means the fixings have reached the end of their life and patching will simply move the problem along.
