Everything your Green Lane property needs
The systems we apply in Green Lane and nearby Finham, Stivichall and Cheylesmore. Which one suits your wall depends on what it is built of and how exposed it is.
Silicone Thin-Coat Render
Flexible, breathable, through-coloured silicone render that resists cracking and stays cleaner for longer — no repainting.
K-Rend & Monocouche
Premium scratch-render systems applied in one through-coloured coat for a durable, low-maintenance finish.
Sand & Cement Rendering
Traditional rendering for repairs, period properties and budget-conscious projects, finished smooth or textured.
Pebbledash & Roughcast
Either direction: a matched dash repair on a property that should keep it, or a levelling coat and smooth render over the top of it.
Render Repairs & Crack Repair
Hollow sections cut back to a sound edge, rebuilt in matching material and feathered in — after we have worked out why it failed.
External Wall Insulation
Insulated render systems that warm the home and cut energy bills while refreshing the exterior in one job.

What we check on a property in Green Lane
Every quote starts with a survey. These are the things we look at on rendering work in Green Lane, and why each one changes the recommendation.
Movement joints on long elevations
A large unjointed elevation will crack somewhere. We check whether existing joints were provided and where new ones need to fall, so the render is allowed to move instead of tearing.
Previous repairs
Earlier patching tells us a lot — what failed, where, and whether the cause was ever addressed. Repairs that have themselves cracked usually mean the underlying problem is still live.
Rainwater goods and drip details
A leaking gutter joint or a missing drip bead keeps one strip of wall permanently wet, which shows up as staining, growth and eventually frost damage. We look at the roofline while we are looking at the walls.
Organic growth and staining
Algae and moss mark where a wall stays wet. The growth itself is cosmetic; the pattern is diagnostic, and it usually points straight at the detail that needs fixing.
Meter boxes, flues and external fittings
Gas and electric boxes, boiler flues, outside taps, alarm bells and satellite brackets all have to come off and go back at the new wall thickness. Missing one at survey is how a job overruns.
Existing finish and its thickness
Rendering over an existing finish adds thickness. We measure what is already there and check the consequences at reveals, sills, the roofline and any abutment before agreeing to overlay rather than remove.

The closest are Finham (about 0.7 miles away), Stivichall (about 0.7 miles away), Cheylesmore (about 1.4 miles away) and Earlsdon (about 1.6 miles away). All of them are inside our normal working area, so a property on the boundary is no different to one in the middle of Green Lane. If you are unsure which area you count as, the postcode settles it.
Which part of Green Lane do you cover?
All of it — the streets around St Martin in the Fields included. Where a property sits matters less to us than what the access is like, which is something we look at on the survey rather than guessing from an address.
How long does render last?
A correctly specified and detailed silicone or monocouche system should run for decades with nothing more than an occasional wash down. Traditional sand and cement lasts well structurally but its paint finish needs renewing every several years. Lifespan is decided far more by the detailing — beads, movement joints, sealant at openings, keeping clear of the damp-proof course — than by the brand on the bag.
What is monocouche render?
Monocouche means one coat. It is a through-coloured, cement-based render applied in a single pass, usually two passes the same day to build thickness, then scratched back once it has firmed up to expose an even texture. It is durable and needs no painting. Because it is cement-based it is less flexible than silicone, so bead detailing and movement joints matter more.
What is K-Rend?
K Rend is a manufacturer, not a type of render — the name is used so widely that it has become shorthand for their through-coloured silicone and scratch render systems. A K-Rend finish usually means a scratched, through-coloured render around 15 to 20mm thick. We fit it where a client wants that particular texture, and we will say plainly when a thin-coat silicone system would perform better on the wall in front of us.
What is external wall insulation, and is it different from rendering?
External wall insulation is insulation board mechanically fixed and bonded to the outside of the wall, then rendered over with a reinforced basecoat and a topcoat. You get a rendered finish, so it looks like a render job, but it is really an insulation job with a render skin. It thickens the wall, so window reveals, sills, the roofline and all the rainwater goods have to be reworked to suit.
How much does rendering cost in Green Lane?
As a guide, external rendering in Green Lane typically costs between £40 and £70 per square metre, depending on the system used and whether scaffolding is required. A full three-bedroom house generally falls between £2,500 and £5,000, while larger detached properties are usually in the £9,000 to £12,000 range. Every job gets a free, fixed written quote before any work starts.
